WHO WE ARE.Saving Silhouettes is an organization devoted to raising money and awareness to rescue women from the sex industry in Shreveport, Louisiana. We partner with Purchased: Not For Sale, a part of the Hub: Urban Ministries, an organization already working to end sex slavery in our city. By selling headbands we help financially support Purchased, so that they may continue to raise awareness, prevent, and end sex slavery in Shreveport.
To us, the name Saving Silhouettes means that although to the world the girls we help rescue are faceless and nameless, they are still valuable in God’s eyes. So, they are of great importance to us. Therefore, it is our mission to help rescue them so that they may here of the love of our Heavenly Father and that He may restore grace and purpose to their lives. |
HOW THEY'RE MADE.One of our favorite parts about Saving Silhouettes is that it gives many people the opportunity to be involved in making a difference in people’s lives. Many people have donated t-shirts, helped braid the bands, and also assisted in sewing. Volunteers have been from our church, both young and old, and also others from the community. Also, we have been able to partner with girls in the Purchased ministry. It has been amazing watching them make the headbands with their own hands.
We are taking something old, worn out (t-shirts) and creating a beautiful headband. An analogy to how God takes our old, damaged lives and creates beautiful things out of us. |
